Maple
I lived in the world like the flash of a star at dawn,Like a drop of dew, like the cry of a crane - just a moment.
I never believed that the last day would come to me,
And in the sacrificial fire my heart will burn to ashes.
I loved so generously, I believed so much in the stars and eyes,
And with my soul I partook of you as best I could.
But apparently God foretold me a better life,
And I took it with me to sing in the Garden of Eden.
Refrain (2):
Plant a young maple tree on my tumulus,
And don't cry for me, my relatives will cry for me.
I loved you all, and most of all I loved Ukraine,
Probably, this is my worst guilt.
Let the soul move to that strange otherworldly paradise,
Where people like me came up with a whole family.
Only what use are for me these beautiful and eternal blisses
When my orphaned daughter doesn't smile at me
In distant worlds somehow I end everything immediately,
For tears and thyme will enter my soul,
And home, though the wind, though the rays of the sun wormwood,
And light war over your face, Ukraine.
