Black Dawn
Maybe suffering and lonelinesssuit my face well.
They say: now it's your time.
I take one deeper breath.
I give in to sleeplessness.
It's been faithful to me for years.
And I pray for a better day,
for a lighter head, blissful sleep
though inside everything's trembling.
It was supposed to be easy.
It was supposed to be simple.
At the bends, I race against
myself. Catch me up.
It was supposed to be important,
constant, for always.
They are not us for sure.
The black dawn passed us by.
We were missed by a whisker.
I won't take anything from you.
I'll walk out of here just as I stand.
I'll try not to look back.
I will form a new me
from the shards that remained
and I'll shake the dust off my shoulders.
Every day, I'll take a step after step
even into the fire.
I'll accept all or nothing.
It was supposed to be easy.
It was supposed to be simple.
At bends, I race against
myself. Catch me up.
It was supposed to be important,
constant, for always.
They are not us for sure.
The black dawn passed us by.
It was supposed to be easy.
It was supposed to be simple.
At bends, I race against
myself. Catch me up.
We were missed by a whisker,
by a whisker.
