Hallelujah to love

Versions: #1
People of the twentieth century ,1
Your twentieth century is coming to an end, 2
Will there always be no answer
To the question of agreement?..
Two souls, moving in space,
Hundred and fifty years,
We are beginning you for agreement,
Without agreement, there is no point in life.

Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Hallelujah to the couple in love,
We forgot, scolding and feasting,
Why we ended up on earth -
Hallelujah to love, hallelujah to love,
Hallelujah.

Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Hallelujah to all future children,
Our life flew by very fast,
We will answer the cursed questions:
Hallelujah to love, hallelujah to love,
Hallelujah.

I love your hands and speeches,
I will take the tiredness off of your feet,
In one shared sea rivers come together.

Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Hallelujah to Conchita and Rezanov,
Confessing living faith,
We will repeat the commandment:
Hallelujah to love, hallelujah to love,
Hallelujah.

Hallelujah to tragedy actors,
Who gifted us a second life,
Loving us after a century.

Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
Hallelujah, hallelujah...

Don't Break My Heart

Versions: #1
Your hobby is playing with my sad and exhausted heart
You don't recall all the promises I made with you
Despite all your cruelties, see how I stuck to what I said

Don't break my heart
I swear my curse will afflict you one day
Don't say you are unawar
Don't say you don't know my heart is full of sorrowful curse
Don't say you are unawar
Do not say you do not know that when you are not, crying is the only work I do day and night

Don't drive my heart insane
One day, my curse will afflict you at last
Don't say you are unawar
Don't say you don't know my heart is full of sorrowful curse
Don't say you are unawar
Do not say you do not know that when you are not, crying is the only thing I do

Autumn Clouds

My sad autumn clouds
My younger ones than my old face

My Eyes, O innocent unawares
Awaiting to the roads

Where do your pupils stare at?
Where do your eyelashes make bridge to again?

I wish you know that I am still ...
burning of your previous mistake

Although no one came to me
My night-worn innocent eyes

were not alone even one minute
along with loneliness which is the best friend
which is the best friend

two-letter love (you-tu)

Always tired of snowy days
Distressed love, two-letter love (tu - you)

I said if you are upset
The corner of my heart is a place for your heart

Maybe your heart wanted (me) but your feet did not come with me
Or maybe your heart even do not wanted me

Whatever it was, let me tell you
Wherever you are, my heart is with you

Your love past from the bridge, the plain is full of Flower of gladiolus
i lost you my two-letter love (you =tu) -tired of snowy day

I said still if you are heartbroken
O Come, the corner of my heart is a place for your heart

Now that my calendar has very winter
In its cold alleys there is always snow and wind

I have to see the spring of your laughter
Let the snowy days end with you

Snowy days with you

The color of sadness is in my happy poems
A plain full of sad gladiolus
I want you to come and see yourself
My pulse beats with your heart

Your love past from the bridge, the plain is full of Flower of gladiolus
i lost you my two-letter love (you =tu) -tired of snowy day

Orthodoxy

Your thoughts are being hidden by one lake
And your shadow is quiet and swims
Your hair is being tangled by a wind from the east
inch by inch in the air

The messages arrive from every side you turn to
they are even more peaceful from the Pacific ocean
There is no cure for anger and impatience (the wounds of anger)
Your time will come, there is still time

Orthodoxy, comes from the South
Orthodoxy, grants the wishes
Your tear is frozen and awaits
Orthodoxy, the joy of the people

The messages arrive from every side you turn to
they are even more peaceful from the Pacific ocean
The naked truth hurts the most
the sinners pray with devotion

Imam Reza

in the middle of the farm
A black crow
longing to go to
lovely holy shrine of Imam Reza
But the crow thinks
that holy shrine ,There is a place for nice birds ( pigeons)
Where should I go?
A crow with a black face
I am who in all the black ones
I am the blackest of all
between that pigeons
how should I jump? ( so embarrassed)

I am who in all the black ones
I am the blackest of all
between that pigeons
how should I fly? ( so embarrassed)

the crow was thinking in such thinking
the Crow, Lover Lover
some part of the crow's heart said go go
another part of the craw's heart told stay, stay
suddenly one voice said to the crow:
Do not be afraid and go
Do not think in black
You are a pilgrim, go (come)

I am who in all the black ones
I am the blackest of all
between that pigeons
how should I jump? ( so embarrassed)

I am who in all the black ones
I am the blackest of all
between that pigeons
how should I jump? ( so embarrassed)

I am who in all the black ones
I am the blackest of all

how should I jump? ( so embarrassed)

I will never forget you

Versions:
You will wake me up at the dawn
Barefoot, you will come to see me off,
You will never forget me
You will never see me again

Shielding you from the cold,
I will think: “Lord Almighty”
I will never forget you
I will never see you again

Unblinking hopeless brown cherries1 are watering from the wind.
It is a bad omen -
To return.
I will never see you again

And a couple of phrases, carried away from here, will oscillate with nonsensical pathos,
I will never see you again
I will never forget you

And a couple of phrases, carried away from here, will oscillate with nonsensical pathos,
I will never see you again
I will never forget you

I know, the sooner you leave,
The sooner we will be together forever.
How much I don’t want you to go,
How much I wish you were already gone!
It seems, I am loosing you,
And a couple phrases, carried away from here, will oscillate with nonsensical pathos,
I will never see you again
I will never forget you

I will never see you again
I will never forget you

Slaves of silence

It is very hard to believe
we cannot focus
in what surround us
it is so close, it is essential

Something must change
we must do something
if we connect
it will happen in the ideas

But we don't know what to do
nor where to begin

Frozen without reason
captive of the confusion
avoid the conversation
slaves of silence

I will dream for a brief moment
that anything can happen
and one day stop being
slaves of silence

You go on walking without looking
without listening nor thinking
disconnected
in a story with no end

that cannot finish
that has no solution
it is so close
it is an idea to begin

But we don't know what to do
nor where to begin

Frozen without reason
captive of the confusion
avoid the conversation
slaves of silence

I will dream for a brief moment
that anything can happen
and one day stop being
slaves of silence

Full of the Moon

You're so confused
My heart is full of the moon

Come again, make me impatient again
Put me to sleep in the color of your eyes

Don't tell the last story of my death
Your eyes are on me

Don't say I'm fed up with the bitterness of the world
Don't say I'm going, don't say I'm going

O flower of my spring, my plain of tulips
I am heartbroken, I am a tombstone

My pain is constant, my day is miserable
Countless wounds, the poison of my time

I laughed and made fun of you again
I lost heart in your words again

You're so confused
I came to your guest's heart

I beat my heart out
I laughed at the shape of your laughter

Your eyes are better than a hundred lyric poems
Your laughter was full of buds

O flower of my spring, my plain of tulips
I am heartbroken, I am a tombstone

I'm in pain, I'm in a bad day
Countless wounds, the poison of my time

The Dream

She smiled and took my hands, but in a dream
It's wasn't even tomorrow, I woke up, awake and wasted

Her photo on the table came out of the frame again and
took my hands and we went inside the frame together again

I feared that If I woke up, my dream would go away,
I thought 'I'm worried I won't fall asleep on the table'.

Alone on the bed, alone in the dream, with her in the frame
When she closed her eyes, the frame fell off the table and broke

Now I need someone to interpret this dream of mine
so that my sleepless hours change

It was raining, so I shouted 'I'm behind the door'
The yawn of the wind quietly passed behind me

Before the door opened, I woke up, it was raining
I thought 'maybe it's tomorrow and I'm unaware of it'

It was raining, so I shouted 'I'm behind the door'
you woke up and said 'I'm worried I won't fall asleep'

The flood came into the room from the frame, the door was open
we drowned because the room was much of a sea

Now I need someone to interpret this dream of mine
so that my sleepless hours change

The slave

Giorgos Dalaras & Vassiliki Lavina

There once was a lord with money
Who had a brainy slave but that didn't turn out to be good for him
He inspired others, oh what a trouble to the big heads
The lord threatened and the slave answered

And even if you order them to bring me tied up and beaten up
And I die by the torture think what you are going to lose
First of all and forever, a man will be missed
And you'll be accused of everything you are accusing me of
Think what you are going to lose

And not that you will gain anything with your act
Since you'll learn no secret from me
Think what you are going to lose

The lord thought it over, sit, let's talk, he said
What is there to talk about, the slave says, now we hear nothing
Try to be nice to me by freeing me, you are just interested in your business
I leave the gold to you, I prefer my freedom

After all, why should I be a slave
why should I pay for the Gods' games
After all why should I be a slave

Gentle ruler

What a cedar, what a moon, what a ruby and red coral
What a body, what an intellect, what a love, what an existence

How like the kindness of spring you are, what a master of hunt you are
What have you to do with that dalliance? What are you repeating to yourself under your breath?

What a sweet treat you are, what a gentle ruler you are
What a high moon you are, around whom the whole sky orbits

You are perfect and I am incomplete, you are pure and I am your devotee
You are the music and I am the dancer, I am the nethermost you are the uppermost

What a sweet treat you are, what a gentle ruler you are
What a high moon you are, around whom the whole sky orbits

If you insult any being's existence, you set it into motion
Such as from your love hundreds of disturbances arise

Lift up my spirits, and my aching and distressed heart
Turn the jail cell into a garden, for these imprisoned souls

What a sweet treat you are, what a gentle ruler you are
What a high moon you are, around whom the whole sky orbits

Infatuation

Come come, I've become despondent from missing you
Come out come out, I'm perishing from solitude

How come how come, you've come out asking for me1
See see, how impatient I am due to infatuation

Give give, what you have brought me as a gift
Sit sit, so that you may rest a while

Come come, I've become despondent from missing you
Come out come out, I'm perishing from solitude

How come how come, you've come out asking for me
See see, how impatient I am due to infatuation

Don't go don't go, why are you leaving so early?
pray tell pray tell, why do you arrive so late?

Breath by breath, I've wailed and whimpered about missing you
Day by day, I've become despondent without sight of your face

How come how come, you've come out asking for me
See see, how impatient I am due to infatuation

Give give, what you have brought me as a gift
Sit sit, so that you may rest a while

Don't seek don't seek, after keeping to this vow, for a method of betrayal
don't do this don't do this, or we will go down in infamy

go go, how, in trickery, you deviate from honesty while walking
come back come back, how you don't walk, rather strut with grace

Don't go don't go, why are you leaving so early?
pray tell pray tell, why do you arrive so late?

Breath by breath, I've wailed and whimpered about missing you
Day by day, I've become despondent without sight of your face

  • 1. This could also be translated as 'How come how come, you've come out per my request.'

Seducer

1She took my heart and my faith
My heart and my faith is what she took away from me
Heathens would not go so far
So far, is where heathens wouldn't go to

She has two faces like the moon
Like the moon, she has two faces
The moon has been rid of its amber
Amber, is what the moon has been rid of

Her eyes steal hearts away
Hearts are stolen away by her eyes
People do not believe this
This is what people don't believe

She's become powerless and perplexed
She's become perplexed and powerless
Idol2 makers are dazed by her looks3
Her looks daze idol makers

My seducer is a sweet idol
You, my seducer, are a sweet idol
Fire has struck my heart
My heart has been struck by fire

I have fallen in love with her
She is who I've fallen in love with
She completely stole my heart
My heart has been completely stolen by her

My seducer is a sweet idol
You, my seducer, are a sweet idol
Fire has struck my heart
My heart has been struck by fire

I have fallen in love with her
She is who I've fallen in love with
She completely stole my heart
My heart has been completely stolen by her

I constantly long for her sight
Her sight is what I constantly long for
The justice doesn't give me justice4
Justice is what the justice won't give me

So drunk on the idol's beauty
So many beautiful idols drunk
Drink with me in glee
In glee, come drink with me

Stop acting as if I owe you a favor
I don't owe you a favor, stop acting as if I do
Put the goblet in my hand
In my hand, is where I want you to place the goblet

My beloved has embarked on a journey
On a journey, is where my beloved is
What shall I do here, alone
Alone here, what shall I do?

My seducer is a sweet idol
You, my seducer, are a sweet idol
Fire has struck my heart
My heart has been struck by fire

I have fallen in love with her
She is who I've fallen in love with
She completely stole my heart
My heart has been completely stolen by her

My seducer is a sweet idol
You, my seducer, are a sweet idol
Fire has struck my heart
My heart has been struck by fire

I have fallen in love with her
She is who I've fallen in love with
She completely stole my heart
My heart has been completely stolen by her

  • 1. I chose 'seducer' for the title, however, the farsi title has less of a sexual, and more of a romantic connotation compared to the English word 'seducer/ seductress'
  • 2. Idol is an idiom for someone who has looks worth worshipping.
  • 3. A closer translation would have been 'Idol makers end up motionless like idols due to her beauty', but that doesn't quite roll off the tongue does it?
  • 4. Here, what is meant is that 'the judge will not give me justice' which might have been easier to understand but I chose the word 'justice' instead of 'judge' to more closely resemble the source text.

On the Verge of Old Age

On the verge of old age
complaining about the night of the world
is bad, (you) reasonable man
To respect Diazepam,
try to sleep
without sorrow or a kiss

You, like a house slave,
become a burden to the day
No one told you not to
burn from your core
You were not the sun
to shine unsparingly

What horses raised
inside you
Whinnying, the life of your throat
gradually dragged toward the end
Who attached you to the cart
that you are receiving daily payments in agony?

Kicking a lion
whose patience was his roar
(and) broke the cheetah
who was tame and behaved like a mirror
And high above a mouth
an eagle fell down

You stayed brave and mixed
bread and blood to survive
You did not run in vain
and after all this running,
what is left for the folks
other than a stable and a leash?

You're identified in the world but
you don't have an identification card
You're continuously sorrowful but
you, yourself, will not continue
An arrogance of no offspring
Constructing a building of destruction

You were not a chosen one
Admit it that you weren't
Admit it that you are a prophet
without any miracles
You have a raised issue
but you are without a book

(You are) a hatch that beat and
shined the light of a patio
on our small world
Come, come back to life, oh moon
so that every night, like a eulogy,
you will shine on this hatch

May a thousand fish
be sacrificed for the blueness of the sea
May a thousand sheets of painkillers
be sacrificed for this young sorrow
May a thousand swoop of cranes
be sacrificed for the blue vastness

Complaining about the small night
and nagging like a child
is enough, blessed grief
May your night be long, and so be your sorrow
Have a good sorrow, and a (good) night too
It's the night, (you) reasonable man

You Are in the Distance of the Rain

You are in the distance of the rain
and sorrow is a carriage of tear
and the tear is a short neigh
You and I must feed in the stable of death
(so) get down from this carriage
(as) you (should) also neigh sometimes

Gallop, oh stud of oxygen
and find a trail or something
toward the window
The air of confinement is breathtaking
Galloping, unlock me
Gallop, you who are full of paths

I'm the one who is a sad stork
on your chimney
I'm a fish in the long
sea of your highlighted hair
I'm the one who is a bait on the hook
Capture me, oh fish

I'm the prey, capture me
then kiss me and swing me
then swing me and kiss me
and then do what, what to me
'what' is whatever you want
(Do) want what you want

Hey, you with your nose up
Get down from this carriage
And stick to me right now
Kiss me right now
as living is only a couple of blows
and life (nothing but) a short cough

We're Big and Stupid

We're big and stupid
We drink like cows
the mirage of a pasture
It's a drought and we know
that the tears will drown
the hippopotamuses

We're large and sad
We're both black and pessimistic
We don't rain a drop
for prosperity
And we don't respect
the destruction

When the night falls, we're asleep
and we're asleep in the morning and at noon
and (we're asleep) in the afternoon until night
and from night to night again
(While asleep), we dream of
a sunny day

Good...we're good and happy
We're rigid, tough, and stubborn
At the peak of loneliness
like loose women
we know it quite well
how to find friends

We're cows, horses, human beings
We're the keepers of true knowledge1
We're supporters of women
We're slaves to (our) bodies
We guard, guard
the love in the bed

Conquered science
Complex system
Ignorant scholars
Will we, robots,
understand one day
the acquired knowledge?

We're poor in eating
We're stingy in dying
Will we, being among the tightfisted
and the flatterers,
leave this habit of
behaving like beggars?

We had the wedding attire on
We drank like cows
We strove like horses
We boiled like tears
And the tears then drowned
the hippopotamuses

Good...we're good and happy
We're rigid, tough, and stubborn
At the peak of lonliness
like loose women
we know it quite well
how to find friends

We're cows, horses, human beings
We're the keepers of true knowledge1
We're supporters of women
We're slaves to (our) bodies
We guard, guard
the love in the bed

- We're essentially masterful
We're masters of puns
We're scholars in knowledge
We're scholars in reading
But we esteem
sewer poetry
