Waw!
When I studied at the Boarding School,I sinned alone.
A priest caught me doing it.
'Cohumbá, to the waw!'
My punishment was to stand facing a wall and
memorize 50 lines from a book.
The priest gave me the Sermão da Sexagésima
by Vieira.
'Memohize 50 lines', the priest repeated.
What I had read before were lame translations
of adventure novels that bored me.
When I read and memorized 50 lines from the Sexagésima I got
astonished.
And I read the whole sermon.
My God, now I needed more lonely sins!
And I did it a lot.
'Cohumbá, to the waw!
It was the glory.
I was fascinated to go to the wall.
This time the priest gave me the Sermão do Mandato.
I memorized and read the book amazed.
I learned to enjoy the sonant balance of sentences.
Almost appreciating even the letters' smell.
So much lonely sin exhausted me.
Standing by the wall was a glory.
I drank a glass of restorative and got better.
Then I also learned to listen to the silence
of walls.
