Sons Of The Same Mother
We burn the house of our neighbourWe despise what he thinks when we don’t understand what he says
We steal the fire, the bread and the wine
Even when we don’t need it, with arrogance
Why don’t we extend our hand
And loosen the dreaded fist of war?
Why don’t we look in the eye,
Leave fears and pride behind,
And listen to each other’s words?
Why don’t we know how to fight
With the astuteness of an old man
Against what is dividing us?
We are sons of the same mother
We are brothers with the same blood
And this sun, which illuminates us and makes us equal,
Which nourishes us and give us shelter, rises for everyone
Look, the river is full of mud
And the forests where we used to play are smoldering
Why didn't we know how to stop
When in the end everything were defeats
Where are the winners now
When the present is full of thorns
And everything seems unbreathable?
No one can go all out for victory
Neither the people nor the tyrant
When history questions us. No!
We are sons of the same mother
We are brothers with the same blood
And this sun, which illuminates us and makes us equal,
Which nourishes us and give us shelter, rises for everyone
A little dot in shades of blue
Where every word of history has been written
All that we have ever known, been and lived
Suspended in the nothingness
Like a speck of dust
